(AP Photo/Orlin Wagner)

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) Lagerald Vick had declared for the NBA draft and Kansas had moved on without him, recruiting a trio of backcourt players to take his place and planning for the upcoming season.

Then Vick changed his mind and returned for his senior year.

Good thing for the Jayhawks.

No. 4 Virginia starts fast in easy win

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) De'Andre Hunter wasn't the focus of Coppin State's defense on Friday night, so the sophomore forward showed the overmatched Eagles the error of their ways.

No. 16 Hokies roll into Charleston final

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) No. 16 Virginia Tech accomplished something it hadn't in coach Buzz Williams' five seasons - reaching an in-season tournament championship game.

If the Hokies are as locked-in defensively Sunday as in beating Northeastern 88-60 at the Charleston Classic on Friday, they could also leave with Williams' first tournament title.

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) - Xavier Sneed scored 16 points to lead five Kansas State players in double figures, and the No. 12 Wildcats beat Eastern Kentucky 95-68 on Friday night in the Paradise Jam tournament.

No. 17 Miss. St. rides 32-4 run to win

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) Mississippi State's night turned sour after just 29 seconds when starting guard Nick Weatherspoon was rolling around on the floor, wincing in pain while clutching his sprained left ankle.

The Bulldogs looked shaken, falling behind early against a team they were supposed to beat easily. Thanks to Weatherspoon's replacement, things got better in a hurry.
